About this Keynote
I presented this keynote at Google for their Authors at Google series. It is a customized version of my most-requested keynote: The Power to Persuade – The Magic of Story.
In this program, I tell several stories and then analyze how and why I tell them based on my Story Theater Method. One of the stories I tell is the story of how Google got started on the campus of Stanford University in 1995. You’ll hear how Sergey Brin and Larry Page leveraged their story to obtain investment capital that jump-started what is now a $500 billion enterprise.
This keynote will give you a preview of my content and speaking style and help you determine if I am the right speaker for your event. In my keynotes and trainings, I illustrate the science of the art of storytelling in business. Great storytellers are not born, they’re trained.
What is not being able to tell a compelling story costing you? What is the cost of low morale or high turnover? How much money do you leave on the table when you fail to make an emotional connection and build trust with your customers? Business storytelling can make the difference.
Let me know how I can help you achieve your goals.
About Doug Stevenson
Doug Stevenson, CSP, specializes in the strategic use of storytelling to engage, influence, and sell a product or service. Using story as a strategy, Doug has helped tens of thousands of business professionals and hundreds of companies and associations, on four different continents, to identify their unique storytelling proposition (USP).
At 22, Doug hitchhiked from his hometown of Chicago to Hollywood, to become a movie star. When that didn’t work out, he escaped to Colorado Springs where he built a successful real estate brokerage. In 1996, he began speaking professionally.
His proven storytelling methodology has been polished and perfected by working on real-world challenges with leaders, marketers, fundraisers, engineers, salespeople, and executives.
With SAP, Google, and Oracle, Doug helped engineers explain their technology with stories.
With Caterpillar, Coca-Cola, and NBC, Doug taught leaders how to influence and inspire with their personal stories. Doug helped Red Bull’s salespeople communicate more effectively with their distributors, and at Microsoft, he taught regional sales directors how to motivate their sales teams.
A few of Doug’s other storytelling clients include: Blue Cross-Blue Shield, Verizon, Deloitte, MedStar Hospitals, Abbott Labs, US Bank, Lockheed Martin, HCA Healthcare, Pfizer, and USAA Insurance.
